We have stayed at the Caravan Club Site at Troutbeck Head over the last 10 years and always been happy with the location and facilities. However, in Easter this year we stayed in one of the Camping Pods at the Quiet Site and they were excellent, even in the cold weather. The availability of a mircowave, fridge and freezer is also invaluable when camping in a tent or pod. We were so impressed with the people we met (Staff are very friendly and helpful) and the facilities, including the lovely bar with it's log fire that we booked for 2 weeks in the summer, staying in our Campervan. We have just returned from our 4th week of the year during the Scottish School's Autumn break. My only very slight criticism on this occasion was that the bar and shop were poorly stocked on certain days but accept the time of year to be a factor. I would however recommend the Quiet Site 100% and we will never go anywhere else now in the Lakes. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

I spent Two nights in one of the camping pods, with my 9 yr old boy, my Brother and his 9 yr old boy....we had plenty of room and have not one bad comment to make what so ever....The site facilities were excellent, everything you need, great showers, and every were was really clean...the site pub is really nice with a massive roaring log fire... Even though we only spent two days here, it was a lovely two days...i only wished we stayed longer...it even rained for the two days but it didn't ruin nothing! The people that run the camp are also very very helpful...! i give it 10/10, and i cant wait for my next visit hopefully in october..! a big thank you to the Quiet Site...!

We spent a week at the site in the 1st week of the school holidays. All I can say is this IS the place to stay. We had a look a other sites near-by, but they were not as nice. The staff were very helpfull and friendly, the facilities were spot on and clean, best of all the bar serves a good pint! If we return to the lakes we will only stay at the Quiet site. Thanks, Jon & Mel. North Wales.

just returned from the quiet site after a week there. only 1 thing stopped me giving it 10 stars and that was the showers, showers themselves are great but as there is no shower curtain your clothes get wet as the showers are so powerful when it hits you it bounces all over the cubible. On the plus side there's proper baths so that was'nt a problem after 1st night as just used the bath instead. Everything else is top notch and it was great having a couple of visiting hedgehogs returnin night after night to say hello and try n grab some food.

Just returned after a 2 night stay and were really pleased with everything. Great site, super facilities and our 3 yr old loved the playground as much as our dog loved the meadow walks! Very friendly site and we look forward to returning soon! Thank you!

While i'm writing this we're still at the Q-site. This must be by far out the cleanest site we've ever seen. The staf doing their last "is everything clean and oke check" at the facilities at 11.30pm (!). The staf being patience for a couple of dutchies that can't make up their mind where to park their caravan. Willing to help en alway's polite. Nice walks that start at the campsite. The first night we couldn't believe our ears, just some buzzards and owls seaching for a "snack" and a sheep that is afraid in the dark..... It's for sure the quiet site. Wish we could stay a little longer than the ten night we have planned. If you want to be in the middle of the Lake District's nature, check out this clean and quiet campsite.

We recently returned from a three day break in a camping pod at The Quiet Site, and we're already planning to return :-) On arrival, we were shown to our pod by one of the very friendly staff, and shown where to find all the facilities etc. The site had everything we needed during our stay including free hot water washing up sinks, and freezers for ice packs. The shower blocks were well maintained and clean, and I was glad to find that the ladies' had free hairdryers and a plug socket. We stayed in Pod 3, and were able to park our car about 20 feet away. The pods are very cosy, and had plenty of room for a double airbed and all our stuff (and we had a LOT of stuff). There were hooks inside and outside the pod - handy for hanging up waterproofs. Although there is a small heater in the pod, we would advise taking extra blankets as we stayed at the end of June and were both very cold during the night. Aside from that, the pod was perfect for us. All the good points of camping without the faff of a tent. We absolutely loved the little on site pub. With its warm log fire, friendly staff and almost medieval decor, it was a great place to enjoy a quiet drink and laugh about a long day of walking and getting lost (very lost) in the most beautiful place in England - the pool table was an added bonus too. The only bad point of our stay was that restaurants in the area are quite limited with the site being in a remote area, so be prepared to do a bit of driving to get to most places. This wasn't a fault with the site though - it is called The Quiet Site for a reason :-). Finally, we must say that before arriving, we were worried that we might be stereotyped as a couple of loud, rowdy students...but we felt very welcomed as a quiet young couple. Thank you very much TQS - we'll definitely be back. (sorry for the essay - but we can't praise this site enough).

This was our first time camping, three children, two adults and two dogs......torrential rain gale force winds-very scary-We cannot praise the site enough. Excellent showers/toilets, washing facilities were better than at home!! The staff were very helpful even offered to extend leaving so we could dry out our soggy tent. Will definitely be back, hopefully in better weather. Thanks to the pianist, in the Quiet bar ,who played a tune for our Ridgebacks. A very special thanks to the very kind couple who helped in dismantling our tent in the pouring rain, We hope you dried out quickly and had better weather for the rest of your stay!!

We have just came back from staying in Ivy Cottage and had a fantastic time when we arrived there the children were straight into the back garden where there is a fantastic trampoline and playhouse and plenty of room to run around. The cottage was lovely and clean the rooms were lovely and staff were friendly.

Stayed here many times camping and occasionally in the cottages. This is by far the best campsite I have stayed at and there have been many. Well looked after and managed by friendly staff. A great bar that dates back to the 18th century I believe, has a really good atmosphere inside with an open fire to gather round. The wash facilities have always been very well maintained and clean, they have just been refurbished so are in brandspanking condition right now. Its great to have under-floor heating aswell. The added bonus of a little shop on site with essentials mean you dont have to go far to get something simple. The Cottages to rent are great aswell, on special occasions we have rented both cottages for the family and they are beautiful inside and have everything you could possibly need. A home away from home. The other good thing about this site is its location, away from the hustle and bustle of Windermere and keswick but not to far and some great driving roads to get there, like the kirkstone pass. Also Ullswater lake has to be the most pituresque lake in the national park. I think everybody looking to camp or rent a cottage in the Lake district should stay here, you wont be disappointed.

Wonderful park in truly beautiful scenery. Well kept, always clean loos, log fire to enjoy in the Bar. Being given a later leaving time with our 'van enabled us to enjoy another walk. Best of all after a 6 hour journey to the top and bottom of Hevellyn .....a hot deep bath!We cannot stress how much it made feel better and soothed our aching legs. Limited night lighting means star gazing also can be enjoyed, indeed one of our favourite sites, great that they accept Camping Cheques too.

Just got home from spending 2 weeks at the quiet site following our wedding at gretna green, the site was fantastic for views and nearby walks. The toilet facilities were spotless and the family bathrooms made the kids very happy, we had a fantastic time at ullswater with plenty to keep us occupied.

Just returned from a mini camping break in Ullswater - argueably one of the most spectacular places you may have the pleasure to visit. We were also very lucky in our choice of campsite, The Quiet Site. A fantastic place for families to take thier kids and not worry about late night noise, to have the facilities of a fridge, freezer and microwave to use which were kept very clean was a real bonus. The showers were always clean and tidy and the staff very helpful. The kids adverture park kept our boys entertained for hours and most of all a good nights sleep was had by all. The bar and games room are the icing on the cake, roaring log fire and plenty to ensure the kids had fun too. We have fallen in love with Ullswater and The Quiet Site will definitely return as soon as possible.

Further to my recent comment my respected other half read it and said I have not given the site enough credit,to which I agree!! All the staff are so friendly and recognise you on your return. The facilities are brill, you couldn't ask for more, freezer, microwave(for that fri nite curry in the tent!)nice clean hot showers, superb old fashioned bar with a roaring log fire for those chilly nights and conversation. My highlight is that this really is the Quiet site,no noise after 11 and nobody is early to rise so you really can have a lie in (bliss) open your tent or whatever you're staying in,take in that crisp clean air and soak in the view of Ullswater and it's glorious surroundings. We where there for a week in May and have booked again for Mid summer!

Love this friendly campsite, great facilities, space for children to play, lovely location, and a cosy bar for wet evenings. Can't wait to try a pod this year.
